All water contains microorganisms (bacteria) that can settle on the lens and cause irritation or eye infections; make sure you always have contact lens solution in your home. How to clean your contact lenses in 5 easy steps
Step 1: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and dry them with a lint-free towel before handling your lenses. When cleaning your contact lenses, it is important that this is done dust and dirt free.
Step 2: Prepare your lens box. Throw away the old contact lens solution (you should never use it twice because it is a source of bacteria) and clean the box with new contact lens solution. Do not dry the box, but let it air dry.
Step 3: Grab the contact lens solution bottle and unscrew the cap. Don’t store the cap with the opening facing downwards, as bacteria may adhere to it. Take out your lens and put it in a clean and dry palm. Drizzle somecontact lens solution from the bottle on top.
Step 4: Gently wipe the lens clean by making back and forth movements with your thumb or index finger. Don't put too much pressure on the lens. Be sure to avoid rotating movements as this may tear the lens.
Step 5: Rinse the contact lens with some fresh contact lens solution from the bottle. Put your lens in the lens box you already had in place. Cover with contact lens solution and carefully close the box. Make sure your lens is not trapped between the box and the lid.

Tips for cleaning your contact lenses
Tip 1: The best thing to do is to leave your lenses in the lens box for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight. The contact lens solution can then do its job to clean and disinfect your lenses. This ensures your contact lenses are kept moist, so you can put them back in the next day without any worries.
